Wild turkey recovery in Minnesota continues

Hunters can now buy a license over-the-counter for this year’s fall hunt

After a tremendous population recovery since the mid-1970s, turkeys are finally outnumbering Minnesota hunters.

With that in mind the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources announced this month that for the first time, state turkey hunters may purchase a license over the counter to hunt this fall’s 30-day season, which begins Sept. 29 and runs through Oct. 28.
