Thomas John "Tom" Falkowski, 62, of Virginia died on Monday, Jan. 23, 2012.
He died at his residence, surrounded by his loving family and friends. Tom bravely fought a rare disease called Amyloidosis AL.
Tom was born on Oct. 23, 1949, in Virginia, to Frank and Katherine (Peshel) Falkowski.
He grew up and attended school in Virginia and graduated from UMD and then went to work at the family supermarket.
On Feb. 20, 1976, he was united in marriage to Priscilla "Paj" Johnson in Virginia, where they made their home. He and his brother Larry were co-owners of Falkowski's Market, until he became sole owner ten years ago.
Tom loved his family, the New York Yankees, talking with his customers at the store and spending time at Lake 14. He was a passionate historian, specializing in the World War II era and Virginia, Minnesota's history though he had many other historical interests, also. He loved antiquing and collecting memorabilia.
Tom was born Catholic though attended and was part of Hope Community Presbyterian Church. He was a member of the Northern Club, Virginia Elks, the Vice-President of the Virginia Area Historical Society and MN Grocers Association.
He is survived by his wife Priscilla "Paj" Falkowski of Virginia; children, Robert, Thomas "Bob" and Stephanie Anne; brothers, Frank (Barb) Falkowski, Larry (Janet) Falkowski, Bill (Rita) Falkowski, Kathy (Marv) Nevala and Mark (Jamie) Falkowski; brother-in-law, Dick (Susan) Johnson; various nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and special friends "Fred," Chas, Honas, Joe and Bob.
Tom was preceded in death by his parents Frank and Katherine; his aunts and uncles; and by his father and mother-in-law Bob and Ardeth Johnson.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 28 at Hope Community Presbyterian Church in Virginia, with visitation one hour prior to the service. The Rev.
