SERVICES: Mass of Christian Burial 10 a.m. Wednesday at Resurrection Catholic Church in Eveleth. Concelebrants will be the Rev. Charles Flynn, the Rev. Joseph Valliyamthadathil, and the Rev. Eamonn Boland. Visitation 5-8 p.m. Tuesday at Cron-Sheehy Funeral Home. Recitation of the rosary will be at 7 p.m., with the Rev. Joel Hastings. Margaret C. Skerjance, 91, of Eveleth died Friday, Sept. 19, 2008 at the Virginia Convalescent Center, surrounded by her loving family.
She was born July 5, 1917 in Mountain Iron to Innocenzo “James’’ and Consoletta (D’Onofrio) Dimberio. She graduated from Mountain Iron High School in 1935. She married Victor A. Mallaro. Victor died in 1945. On May 24, 1952, Margaret married Victor L. Skerjance. They made their home in West Eveleth. She was a homemaker and had worked at the Cluett-Peabody Shirt Factory in Eveleth and Gilbert. Margaret was a member of Resurrection Catholic Church, Auxiliary to Mesaba Range Post 1172 Veterans of Foreign Wars in Eveleth, and and was an election judge for many years. She enjoyed knitting, working crossword puzzles, and cooking, especially preparing holiday meals. Her greatest joy was when her house was filled with family, love and laughter. The family would like to thank the 4th floor staff at the Virginia Conmvalescent Center, as well as the staffs at the Horizon House and St. Raphael’s, for their tender care.
She is survived by her daughters, Peggy (Dale) Campbell of Duluth, Vickie (Patrick) Flannigan of Eveleth, Carol (David) Stanaway of Lakeland and Patti (Calvin) Everson of Eveleth; grandchildren, Debbie (John) Harper, Paul (Laura) Lokken, Lyn Lokken, Lisa (Chris) Dunn, Dale Flannigan, Gary (Gina) Flannigan, Jill (Mike) Stark, Ryan Stanaway, Preston, Spencer and Miles Everson; 11 great-grandchildren; daughter-in-law, Geraldine Mallaro, of Eveleth; sisters-in-law, Della Dimberio, Frances Mihelich, Mandy Skerjance and Betsy Skerjance; and numerous nephews and nieces.
She was preceded in death by her husbands; son, David Mallaro, in 1995; siblings, Peter, Marian, Frank, Albert, Rudolph, Tony and Wallace; and her parents.
