Teresa Ann Johnson, 52, of Hermantown, died at Essentia Health St. Mary’s Medical Center Thursday, June 28, 2012.
She passed away peacefully surrounded by her family after a long battle with pulmonary veno-occlusive disease.
Teresa was born in Eveleth May 20, 1960, to Louis and Sally Muhich. She graduated from Eveleth High School in 1978 and went on to earn her bachelor degree in botany from North Dakota University, and later earned her doctorate in pharmacy at the age of 50 from the University of Minnesota. Teresa married her high school sweetheart, Kurt Johnson, Aug. 29, 1981. After finishing their college degrees, Kurt and Teresa moved to the Duluth area, raising identical twin girls, Heather and Michelle. In Duluth, Teresa worked as a pharmacy technician for many years at St. Mary’s Hospital prior to returning to school to earn her doctorate in pharmacy in 2010. Teresa enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, making maple syrup, harvesting wild rice and all activities outdoors. To all who knew her, Teresa was a caring, loving, compassionate individual who always put others before herself. She remained positive no matter what obstacle she faced. She was an inspiration.
Teresa is survived by her husband, Kurt Johnson; two daughters, Heather (Kyle) Heffner and Michelle (Andrew) Hadrich; parents, Louis and Sally Muhich; brothers and sisters, the Rev. Peter Muhich, John (Jean) Muhich, Paul (Shari) Muhich, Tom (Brandy) Muhich, Mary (Dave) Kujala and Jim (Sarah) Muhich; as well as numerous uncles, aunts, cousins, nieces, nephews and extended family.
