Mary C. Manninen, 82, of Hibbing, died Saturday, June 19, 1999, in the University Medical Center-Mesabi.
She was born Nov. 10, 1916, in Duluth to Peter and Johanna (Bojczuk) Glowaski. She married Eino H. Manninen on Sept. 7, 1935, in Tower. She was a longtime resident of Hibbing and had also lived in New Auburn, Minn., Seattle, Wash., and Minneapolis. She was employed as an analyst for Lerch Brothers Laboratory and the Hibbing hospital in central supply. She was also employed by the U of M Hospital in Minneapolis in central supply. She was a member of St. Leo's Catholic Church and the Senior Citizens, both in Hibbing. Mary loved her flowers and gardens and taught many wonderful lessons.
Survivors include a daughter, Iris Manninen of Redlands, Calif.; two sons, Dennis "Hank" (Jean) Manninen of Maui, Hawaii, and David (Sharon) Manninen of Eagan, Minn.; two sisters, Eliza Perela of Orr, Julia Arezzo of Duluth; three brothers, Vernon (Rose) Glowaski of Fridley, Minn., Donald (Adele) Glowaski of Coon Rapids, Minn., and Peter(Bernie) Glowaski of Duluth; grandchildren, Lynn Wiitala, Bill (Kathy) Kantos, Julie Osterman, Shelly (Jim) Leigh, Michael (Denise) Manninen, Scott Manninen, Steven (Martybeth) Manninen, Katie (Jason) Carter and Mindy Manninen; great-grandchildren John and Stephanie Wiitala, Kelly, Christopher and Kimberly Kantos, Steven Osterman and Griffin Manninen; numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Eino; five brothers, Joe, John, Victor, Tony and Isadore Glowaski; a sister, Johanna Hill.
