SERVICES: Funeral Mass 10 a.m. Saturday in St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Gilbert, with the Rev. Joseph Valliyamthadathil as celebrant. Visitation 4-6 p.m. Friday with parish prayers at 5:30 p.m. at Ziemer-Moeglein-Shatava Funeral Home in Gilbert and will continue for one hour prior to service Saturday at the church. Burial with military honors accorded by the Gilbert Veterans of Foreign Wars post will be in the Gilbert Cemetery.
Thomas Joseph Juth, 84, died Tuesday, Nov. 21, 2006, at Edgewood Vista residence in Virginia.
He was born Dec. 27, 1921, in Eveleth to Thomas and Matilda Juth. He was a graduate of Eveleth High School and later worked in the Civilian Conservation Corps. Thomas attended Stout University and earned a bachelor’s degree prior to serving the country in World War II.
On Aug. 19, 1944, he married Evelyn Beton in Gilbert. Thomas worked for Erie Mining Co. and retired from there as a production technician. He was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Gilbert.
Survivors include his sons, Ed (Rozann) of Corinth, Texas, and Jim (Diane) of Rochester, Minn.; daughters, Joanne Mrkonjich of Green Valley, Ariz., and Mary (Michael) Holen of Blaine; brothers, George (Florence) Juth of St. Paul and Richard (Lynne) Juth of California; sister, Jean Lucht, of Tucson, Ariz.; eight grandchildren, John, Kelli, Colleen, Matthew, Jennifer, Jenna, Jillian and Jared; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Evelyn; sisters, Barbara Wakefield and Betty Miller; and son-in-law, Fred Mrkonjich.
