A couple years back Geraldine “Gerry” Kangas gave me some material from her Laskiainen archives, with which she has been involved for many years — one always sees her on a visit to the museum at the Loon Lake Community Center in Palo during the annual Finnish sliding festival. It will be next weekend, Feb. 5-7, the first full weekend in February.

Minnesota apparently couldn’t handle its neighbor to the east getting all that national attention for the sportsmanship issue I wrote about last week, so now they have a ridiculous headline of their own: “Minnesota basketball team kicked out of league for being too good.”
