VIRGINIA — Looking for any positive sign that winter is coming to an end?
Then the 2013 Iron Range Home, Sport & Travel Show is the place to be starting Thursday at the Miners Memorial Building.
The do-it-yourselfers will be right at home at this year’s edition of the show, as will outdoors enthusiasts, campers and boaters.
More than 200 exhibitors will be on hand, while entertainment is slated for Friday, Saturday and Sunday. The show runs from Thursday through Sunday and admission is free.
“Everything from soup to nuts,’’ will be available to look at or purchase, according to Carole Hendricks, event organizer.
The show has been a highlight for area residents for years and years, and this year is no different.
Those who attend will be put into a drawing for $500 in vendor cash, she said, which includes ten $50 drawings.
Entertainment for 2013 will feature the Divas at 7 p.m. Friday; Amazing Charles the Magician at 10 a.m. Saturday and the Beefeater Bros. easy listening music Saturday at 3 p.m. and Sunday at 1 p.m. Also on Sunday, Amazing Charles the Magician will be performing throughout the facility from 3-6 p.m.
Saturday will feature Pine Wood Derby races, as well. Weigh in starts at 10 a.m. and the races begin at 12:30 p.m.
Many of the mainstay exhibitors — from Floor to Ceiling to Virginia Surplus — will be at the show, while there will be many newcomers. The home improvement, home-based businesses, travel, outdoors, recreation and sporting goods areas will all see new exhibitors.
There won’t be any shortage of food, either. Kettle corn and mini donuts will be sold, while Barb’s Fried Bread will again be stationed in front of the Miners.
And of course, some old favorites like the DNR’s poacher Wall of Shame and Minnesota Measurers (for sizing animal antlers) will again be on hand.
In addition, everyone attending will have the chance to donate to the local food shelf with the Virginia Elks Club holding a food drive in the front lobby.
The Iron Range Home, Sport & Travel Show will be open:
• 5-9 p.m. Thursday
• Noon-9 p.m. Friday
• 10 a.m.-7 p.m. Saturday
• 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Sunday
