VIRGINIA — The legend of Annie Oakley comes alive on the stage as Mesabi Musical Theatre presents Irving Berlin’s Broadway hit “Annie Get Your Gun.’’
It’s the story of sharpshooter Annie Oakley falling in love with her rival, Frank Butler. And the music is famous — “Anything You Can Do, I Can Do Better,’’ “I Got the Sun in the Morning’’ and “There’s No Business Like Show Business.’’
The production has three performances left in its run — a matinee today at 2 p.m. in the Mesabi Range Community & Technical College’s Fine Arts Auditorium and at 7 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday, July 1 and 2.
Stacey Peterson, who appeared in Mesabi Musical Theatre’s “Grease,’’ stars as Annie Oakley. Chris Tessmer is Frank Butler, Gordon Scholes is Buffalo Bill, Andrew Eilola is Charlie Davenport, Adam Brinkman is Sitting Bull, Kat Gritzmacher is Dolly Tate. Gregg Helland and Briann Thorne play Tommy and Winnie. Thirty singers and dancers round out the cast, accompanied by a live orchestra and conducted by Virginia High School’s Matt Krage. Jack Gritzmacher is producer, Kristi Sutton is associate producer, Jeremy Liimatta is technical director, Mary Angela Strasser is rehearsal pianist, Beth Knutson is costume designer and John Renzaglia returns after directing “Anything Goes’’ and “Grease.’’
Tickets are $12 for adults, and $8 for students, children and seniors.
